Designer Screen Shades
Remember the garish avocado or mustard appliances of the 70s? Like with so many other aspects of our lives, colors tend to trend through the years. Luckily, color use evolves over the years as well. At Perfect Fit Window Fashions here in Estero, we understand how important color can be for a home—and how tough it can be for some customers to select the “right” one. If you’re in that boat, you might feel better knowing that a group of experts can predict which colors will trend each year. Read on to learn more!
Who Are the Experts?
The Pantone Color Institute, a group of people well-trained in color and spotting trends, lets us know the trending color for the year. Their selection often sets the stage for trends in fashion, window treatments, wall coverings, and interior design. For an idea of what you might see in future years, check out what’s been declared “trending” in the past:
-2014: Radiant Orchid. Combining purple and pink, this hue is best used as an accent color against neutrals ranging from frosty whites to silvery greys. Radiant orchid is at the opposite end of the color wheel from 2013’s Emerald, a bright green.
-2015: Marsala. Inspired by the wine of the same name, Marsala offers red-brown richness with an organic nature. It can add style to a room by changing the finish from textured to sheen.
-2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity. In 2016, the Color Institute offered up not just one but TWO trending forecasted colors. With their calm and peaceful aura, the two colors were forecasted to replicate how we would want to feel in the following months.
-2017: Greenery. Reminiscent of the first day of spring, this yellow-green, snow pea color “speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew.”
-2018: Ultra Violet. Offering originality, Ultra Violet is provocative and visionary. Long a symbol of unconventionality, Ultra Violet has always been considered a mystical or spiritual color.
