Every December for the past 22 years, the Pantone Color Institute has selected a Color of the Year that defines hues for the upcoming year. In the window fashions industry, it’s important for us to stay on top of color trends so that we can help our customers achieve the look they want in a particular year. And, at Perfect Fit Window Fashions serving Naples, we want to help our clients understand the colors and how they’re important. Read on to learn about what the Color Institute chose for 2021.

Pantone Color Trends 2021
2021 Color of the Year Selection
In a rare but not unheard-of move for 2021, the Pantone Color Institute selected two colors: PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating (a bright yellow hue). Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “The selection of two independent colors highlights how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it’s not about one color or one person; it’s about more than one.” The two colors marry “strength and optimism” in a combination of warm and cool tones: The gray evokes a sense of solid and dependable natural elements, and the bright yellow evokes a sense of the solar power of the sun.
How to Add Ultimate Gray and Illuminating to a Room
If you want to bring a ray of sunshine and a drop of positivity to a room, this pair of colors will get you there. And the best part is that you can do it with a little or a lot. For example, use throw pillows, blankets, or accent pieces to bring both the gray and the yellow in equal or offset amounts. For a bedroom, get bedding in the colors and add a valence to the window. In the dining room, consider candlesticks, artwork, or place settings in gray or yellow. And you can always paint a wall or two, either as an accent or as the full room’s color. Finally, consider window fashions or coordinating side panels and drapery.
