An untreated window allows much of your home’s heating or cooling costs to escape. That’s right—your savings can literally fly out the window! Putting any kind of treatment up will help reduce that possibility; however certain treatments are better at others at helping to insulate your window against outdoor heat or cold and against losing your preferred room temperature. At Perfect Fit Window Fashions here in Estero, we’re watching the cooler temps of fall coming in, and we’d love to help you keep your home at the right temperature no matter the season. Hunter Douglas Innovation
A pioneer in creating the cellular (honeycomb) shade, Hunter Douglas is well-known for its energy-efficient treatments. In fact, the Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC) chose Hunter Douglas as the first to receive their verified energy rating and certification for interior window coverings. Discover the AERC-certified Hunter Douglas products below.
Duette® Honeycomb Shades
Duette Honeycomb shades offer a simple, sleek look for modern spaces, but also work well in traditional settings. The ultimate benefit, of course, is that they almost pay for themselves with the energy savings you’ll enjoy
Applause® Honeycomb Shades
Unlike some other brands of cellular shades, Applause is created with a double cell, which offers increased insulation over regular single-cell construction.
Sonnette™ Cellular Roller Shades
The new, round, sculptured construction of the Sonnette cellular roller shade is being called “the new shape of light.” These beautiful rolling cells gently diffuse sunlight throughout the room while creating a sense of privacy.
Get the Most of Your Treatment
Even if your window treatment isn’t AERC-certified, you can still get some help with saving energy if you make the best use of it. When it’s cold but sunny out, leave the treatment open to capture that free solar heat. If it’s cloudy and at night, close it up again to trap the warm air inside. In the summer, keep the treatment closed to protect against that solar heat and to keep the cool air in. When you can, use natural daylight instead of artificial lighting, to reduce electricity drain.
