Last month, we mentioned that Pantone has introduced an exciting new yellow based on characters in entertainment. And this month, Perfect Fit Window Fashions in Estero is even more excited to tell you about the 2016 Color of the Year (or rather, Colors of the Year). Enter Rose Quartz and Serenity, calm and peaceful colors that will help relieve modern-day stresses and create a sense of tranquility and wellness.
Pantone Color Institute
Twice a year, in partnership with Pantone, the Color Marketing Group (the color/trend forecasters and home décor and fashion designers) meet and decide what the colors will be for the next two years. Before they meet, they must study past trends and forecast future ones. Then, the Pantone Color Institute announces the choice. This year, two colors were chosen because they create a balance and, according to the Institute, allow a “soothing sense of order and peace.” To see the colors in action and to learn about the best color pairings for them, click here.
What Happens With Forecasted Colors

Somner® Custom Vertical Blinds
All industries that produce a product for fashion, home furnishings, hospitality, and automotive follow forecasted trends. The forecasted colors start in fashion and then move to home furnishings, hospitality, and finally automotive. Each industry adapts the forecasted color to their area and products. For example, warmer-climate colors may be lighter, and cooler-climate colors may be a bit darker than the actual forecasted color.
Factors That Influence Trends
Many factors influence the trends in color, including the economy, whether we’re at war, and current and predicted events. Color is not a designer’s whim. Color trends come from where we are, where we want to go, and how people are feeling or not feeling.
Handling Trending Colors
Even though the two colors above are leading the way, don’t worry if you don’t like them. They’re trending for 2016—if you wait a year, new ones will be predicted. Remember trends are just that—passing fads!
