At Perfect Fit Window Fashions here in Estero, we’re very proud of the most recent innovative partnership Hunter Douglas has formed because it impacts oceans, something most of us in Florida truly love. Vast Amounts of Plastic

We’ve all seen trash roll up on the beaches—much of it plastic. Unfortunately, the entire world is battling ocean trash; in ocean currents, these plastics collect to become giant floating death traps for ocean life such as sea turtles, whales, and dolphins. To help ensure the sustainability of our oceans and sea life, Hunter Douglas partnered with Bionic®, a materials-engineering company that has developed programs for coastal recycling in developing countries. They’ve developed ways to recycle ocean plastics into sustainable fabrics. Hunter Douglas asked Bionic to create a yarn from those wastes—and the result is the key building block for the new GreenScreen® Sea-Tex™ fabrics, which are exclusively available for Designer Screen Shades. The fabrics come in five neutral tones in 3% openness, which describes the amount of light and privacy a shade provides. A 1% openness level, for example, provides a more obscured view, while a 5% openness level allows for more light and a clearer view. The lower the percentage value, the tighter the weave.
