Window Treatment Cleaning
So, your work week is finally over, and it’s time to focus on your home. Have you been putting off cleaning your window treatments? At Perfect Fit Window Fashions serving Estero, we know that many of our customers avoid the task because they’re nervous they’ll make a mistake. But really, it can be fairly easy to do, and it can help keep your treatments looking like new. Read on to learn some tips!
Cleaning For Blinds and Shades
As part of your regular routine, you can lightly dust most blinds and shades. For a deeper cleaning of a shade, gently vacuum the fabric with a clean brush attachment, or use compressed air to blow the dust away. You can spot-clean a stain on most shades and blinds using a soft cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and a very mild detergent—being sure not to rub the fabric to avoid causing creases or damage. For deeper cleaning on most aluminum and faux wood blinds, you can immerse them in lukewarm water (don’t submerge the headrail—that could damage the lift mechanism) with gentle detergent in your bathtub. Just use your fingers to gently move the liquid over the slats. To rinse off the soap, close the blind, and then tilt it again to drain the water off. Re-install the blind while it’s still damp, keeping it completely lowered to let it fully dry.
Professional Window Treatment Cleaning
If your shade is made with delicate or fine fabric, you probably need professional cleaning, such as ultrasonic cleaning or injection/extraction cleaning. To find professional cleaning services in your area, call Hunter Douglas at 1-888-501-8364 for referrals. Remember, each cleaning facility is independently owned, so it’s up to you to find the best one for your treatments.
